Why Volunteer Movement India -VMI ? People chose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people in their area and around them. For others it provides opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge. Volunteering offers support to needy people, worthwhile causes, and the communities, but the benefits can be even greater for being volunteer. People also do volunteering in religious places, they do so for intention or attention. All religions are teaching us to be humanist. Who are we as human being if we ignore the suffering of others. Many potential volunteers think that opportunities to become involved are not open to them, or that red tape is standing in their way. The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing up for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character. The strong people stand up for themselves and stronger people stand up for others. We were all humans until race disconnected us, religion separated us, politics divided us and wealth classified us. VMI volunteers are committed to raise standard of humanity. Volunteering...... It’s not for money, its not for fame. It’s not for any personal gain. It is just for love of fellowman. It’s just to sent a helping hand. It’s just to give a tithe of self. That’s something you can’t buy with wealth. It’s not medals won with pride. It’s for that feeling deep inside. It’s that reward down in your heart. It’s that feeling that you’ve been a part. Of helping others far and near, that makes you be a Volunteer.
India's world ranking in giving has dropped to 124 in the list of 146 nations, in 2013 it was 69. Almost a third (31%) of people in India reported helping a stranger in 2017, while 20 per cent of them said they donated money to charity and 15 per cent volunteered their time to support any cause or organization. Indonesia is the most generous country in the world. But when in terms of numbers in giving, India is leading in the world because of its population,
Volunteering is a selfless act. Many people don't think about personal benefits that come along with reaching out and serving weaker section of society. Volunteering provides you with a whole host of advantages for your mental health. It decreases your risk of depression, it creates a feeling of fulfillment and belonging, it reduces stress and giving you the connect with fellow philanthropists and social reformer and giving you the same tag. No one has ever become poor from giving, because giving benefits the giver more than the receiver. If your heart is not allowing you to give, your heart will land up in serious trouble. You are earning from the society and make habit to give back.
